Pietradolce
The Pietradolce winery is located on the northern slope of Mount Etna, in the commune of Solicchiata near Castiglione di Sicilia. Founded by the Faro family in 2005, it has become one of the symbols of Etna's modern wine revolution. Despite its relatively young age, the estate quickly became one of the region's leading producers thanks to its focus on old vineyards, indigenous varieties, and the faithful reproduction of the volcanic terroir.
Today, Pietradolce owns approximately 32 hectares of vineyards, located at altitudes ranging from 650 to 950 meters above sea level. The majority of its plots are located in the historic contradas of Rampante, Santo Spirito, Feudo di Mezzo, and Zottorinoto on the northern slope of Mount Etna, as well as in Contrada Caselle in the commune of Milo on the volcano's eastern slope. A significant portion of the vines are pre-phylloxera plants, 90–150 years old, grown in the traditional alberello variety, which is considered the most suitable for Etna's extreme conditions.
