Sauvignon Vulcaia Fumé, Inama, Veneto IGT
Interesting Facts
Vulcaya Sauvignon is the first wine of the estate, harvested in 1991. The grapes are grown on volcanic basalt soils in the heart of the Soave Classico wine region. Hand-picked, fermented in fired French barriques (about 30% of which are new). After fermentation is complete, the wine is first aged for 7 months in barriques, on the lees, with regular batonage, and then rests for another six months in stainless steel containers. The wine label shows a plan of the ancient Roman Berg Theater in Vicenza. The theater was built in the 2nd century AD. under Emperor Hadrian. However, it was damaged by earthquakes and fires. It was gradually dismantled (in the 1400s - 1700s), and the marble and statues were used to build other buildings.
