Agiorgitico, Nemea DOP
Interesting Facts
The wine is made from the indigenous Agiorgitiko grape variety, grown in vineyards in the foothills of the Nemea region. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 300-500 meters above sea level. The harvest takes place in mid-September. The berries are carefully sorted and pressed, after which fermentation begins in stainless steel tanks at a strictly controlled temperature. This process lasts 10 days. The wine is aged in oak barrels for two years. The wine label depicts the famous Nemean Lion. According to legend, this lion had golden fur, thanks to which it was invulnerable to mortal weapons, and its claws were sharper than swords. The name of the Agiorgitiko grape variety translates as "blood of Hercules", which most likely refers to the bright color of the wines made from this variety.
