Domaine Gauby

The Gabi domain is the property of the Gabi family, passed from generation to generation, but few people knew about it, because all the crops grown in the Domain's vineyards were sold to local producers. Everything changed in the early 80s of the XX century, when Gerard Gabi came to manage the Domain. He made a courageous decision to produce wines under his own brand. Gerard released his first vintage in 1985, and in the following years, Domaine Gabi went from a beginner to a worthy member in the lists of the best estates in Languedoc-Roussillon.
The vineyards of the farm have undergone significant changes, expanding from five to 40 hectares. The main plots are located in the village of Calce, although Gabi also acquired vineyards in the now popular Fenouilledes region. Soils are mostly chalky (calcaire), hence the name Calce, but there are also shale soils. The vineyards of the farm are dominated by the Grenache variety, with some vines dating back to 1947, and the twenty-year-old Syrah vines. One of the attractions of the farm is the 125-year-old vines of Carignano. The vineyards are cultivated using only biodynamic methods. Initially, the wines produced by Domaine Gabi were quite tannic, but over time, Gerard moved to a more balanced and elegant style, significantly improving the taste of the wines. In addition, the range has expanded significantly and currently 6 cuvées are produced: three white and three red.
