Interesting Facts
The grapes destined for Imperial Reserva come from the company's own vineyards in Villalba, Briones and Torremontalbo. The soils are calcareous-clayey, poor in organic matter, low-yielding, and mainly oriented to the south. The grapes are collected by hand into boxes with a maximum capacity of 300 kg. From the moment of harvest, the grapes are stored in refrigerators located in the vineyard to avoid oxidation and preserve the aroma. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes are further selected on a sorting table, after which they are transferred to large oak vats of different capacities: 80, 120 and 160 hl, depending on the size of each plot. For this vintage, a new winemaking room was opened with small fermentation tanks made of stainless steel and concrete. After fermentation, the wine is aged for two years in new French and American barrels and second passage barrels.
