Interesting Facts
The Amaro Lucano recipe appeared in 1894 and has since been passed down from generation to generation. The recipe includes about 30 herbs, spices and other plant components. They undergo maceration in alcohol, wine or mixed with sugar syrup. In order for the mixture to become perfect, it is placed in large tanks, insulating from moisture and sunlight for 3-4 months. During this time, a heavy precipitate falls, and lighter fractions rise to the surface. Only the heart of the extract can form Amaro Lucano. Next, pure water, alcohol and caramel are added to it.
