Macia Bach

Bach is the winery with the longest history of wine production in DO Penedés.
The first pages of the history of the Spanish wine brand "Masia Bach" date back to 1915, when the brothers Ramon and Per Bach moved from Bercelona to San Esteve Sesrovires and acquired the estate "Can Estrada" dating back to the 18th century.

Thanks to the stable income that the Bach family received from the cotton trade from the Middle East, they were able to invest in the winery: they expanded the territory of the vineyards, built a new 95-meter cellar for aging wines, and purchased more than a thousand oak barrels from Bordeaux oak. The aim of the Bach brothers was to create quality wines capable of aging.

The first wines of the Bach brothers were released under the name "Extremisimo" - this is the concept that in Spain is traditionally called the highest quality cotton brought from India or Egypt.
Wines from "Masia Bach" were presented to the public at the international exhibition held in 1929 in Barcelona. However, the Civil War, which came soon, made adjustments to the cloudless plans for the future of the owners of "Masia Bach". One of the brothers was killed, and the second, unable to cope with the loss, sold the property in 1942.
Over the next three decades, the winery changed several owners. In 1975 it was acquired by the Raventos family and added to the Codorníu Raventós group.
The new owners made a wise decision, bringing in the management of the descendants of the Bach family, who today are not the last relation to the affairs of the company.

Since then, a lot of time has passed, but loyalty to the spirit of the Bach brothers has remained unchanged: quality, originality and charm in all wines.
