Fuligni
The Fuligni wine estate covers approximately one hundred hectares, forming a nearly continuous strip on the eastern side of Montalcino, the historical birthplace of Brunello production. The vineyards, covering fourteen hectares, are located primarily in Cottimelli, at an altitude of 380 to 450 meters above sea level.
Here, on land facing primarily northeast, the Eocene Santa Fiora (marl) formations predominate, with a predominantly rocky topography. Other vineyards, specifically dedicated to the production of Rosso di Montalcino and IGT wines, are located to the east, around the 17th-century Villa San Giovanni a Semini, which today serves as an agritourism complex.
Paolo Vagaggini, one of Tuscany's finest and most experienced Sangiovese experts, is responsible for Fuligni wines, maintaining a long-standing relationship between the Fuligni and Vagaggini families that dates back to the 1960s, when the Fuligni collaborated with Paolo's father, Francesco Vagaggini. This special relationship with the Vagaggini family took on a new dimension when young Jacopo Vagaggini, an Oxford graduate specializing in Bordeaux wines, began collaborating with his father.
