Coviñas

The history of the Coviñas company began in 1965 in the village of Requena (Requena, Valencia), where ten cooperatives from the surrounding area - Los Isidros, Requena, La Portera, Roma, Las Monjas, San Antonio, Campo Arcís, Villargordo, Barrio Arroyo and Los Duques - decided to join forces and found a distillery. Two years later, the same group acquired a neighboring winery and, in addition to producing distilled beverages, began producing the first wine Vino de la Reina, named after the Queen of the Harvest, in the region later classified as Denominación de Origen (DO) Utiel-Requena. In 1985, the name Vino de la Reina was changed to Enterizo, which remains famous today, becoming one of the flagship wines. Coviñas' international expansion began in 1994 with the export of Monte Mayor wines to other European markets. This marked an era of progress and growth for the company, which has not diminished over the years. In 2003, Coviñas stopped producing distilled beverages, deciding to concentrate entirely on wine production. That same year, a gigantic wine cellar with a capacity of 11,000 barrels was opened. In 2008, the company acquired new equipment and began producing Cava sparkling wines.
