Storm

Hannes and Natalia Storm are husband and wife who hand-produce Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines on the poor, stony, clay-rich shale soils of the Bokkeveld ("Back Veld") in the Hemel en Aarde valley. Storm Wines aims to channel the most important characteristics of each vineyard into the wine bottle. Small production, meticulous viticulture, minimal intervention in
cellar and a tribute to the Old World give the wines a special personality and character.
Hemel-en-Aarde is located behind a quaint fishing village and popular resort town
Hermanus, 120 km from Cape Town. Whales visit Walker Bay annually from July to November. Apart from
whales and an accepted holiday destination, the picturesque town is also home to the renowned wine region of Hemel aan Aarde.
In 2009, Hemel en Aarde was divided into three separate areas - the Hemel en Aarde valley, the upper
the Hemel en Aarde valley and the Hemel en Aarde ridge - with a total vineyard area of 450 hectares
Influenced by the Atlantic Ocean, it is considered a region with an exceptionally cool climate. The prevailing summer southeasterly wind has a smoothing effect, as does the Benguela Current rising from Antarctica. The high average rainfall compared to the rest of Cape Town helps a lot during the dry season.
