Vollereaux

The Vollero estate extends over 40 hectares, which allows the production of 400,000 bottles of wine per year. The vineyards are located on 13 sites, including Premier Cru in Pierre. The vineyards have a rich palette of three different terroirs, with grape varieties planted depending on soil type. Jean-Marc was one of the first who decided to tackle the Cézanne region, consisting of forgotten areas whose terroir no one believed.

“Part of the Champagne region was abandoned after the phylloxera invasion, but in 1960 Cézanne was reclassified again. I was 14 years old,” recalls Jean-Marc. “In the beginning we were just studying the vines. We planted Meunier first, but soon saw that the Chardonnay vines would do better here. Now, 50 years later, this Chardonnay is highly regarded by even the greatest of estates.”
