Robertson Winery

Robertson Winery is one of the most advanced wineries in South Africa and has won worldwide recognition. This wine house, today one of the three largest South African wineries, was created in 1941 as an unification of 26 families of winegrowers of the Robertson Valley. The initiators of the creation of the union - Jypee Rossow and Alvin Brewer, adapted the building of the former missionary chapel, dating back to the 1880s, for the first cooperative winery. For this reason, the first wine "Robertson Winery" was named Chapel ("chapel"). The Chapel brand has become one of the most popular in South Africa, has received recognition abroad and, although the winery has long moved to a new, large and modern building, its basic line of wines has retained its former name.

Today, Robertson Winery unites more than 45 farms, whose vineyards are located in the heart of the unique Robertson Valley, bounded by the Bride River in the south, and the Langeberg Mountains in the north, which protect the vineyards from the hot winds from the north. The peculiarities of the valley's climate create almost ideal conditions for the ripening of berries. Soils in the valley are very diverse, but with one thing in common: they have the highest pH in South Africa, which guarantees health and full growth of the vine. All Robertson Winery vineyards are positioned to provide access to cool sea breezes. The African sun, combined with sea coolness, create unique conditions for growing grapes. The unique microclimate, rich soil map, healthy and mature vines have given the house a high reputation and international calling.
