Blandy's

English officer John Blandy came to serve in the British garrison in Madeira in 1807, where he found his true calling, falling in love with local wines, founding the family wine company Blandy's. Charles Reedpas Blendy continued his father's work: he was quite perspicacious and was able to arrange the purchase of wine materials during the plague in 1852, and thus acquired most of the wine stocks on the island and saved the family from ruin.

In 1925 the Blendy family joined the Madeira Wine Association. This organization was created on the initiative of several wine companies with the aim of gaining competitive advantages in the global market and minimizing transportation costs. For a long time, the Blendy family successfully managed the Association, ensuring the well-being of the company in times of crisis, strengthening its position relative to other winemakers.

In 2000, Blendis creates a new category of Madeira premium wines - Coleita, single vintage wines. This wine was launched on the market under the name Malmsey Blandy 1994 vintage. Before him, there was no vintage Madeira in the world.

In 2002, Blandy's Alvada brought the world another innovation. In the blend of this wine for the first time there were 2 grape varieties - Malmsi and Bual. The harmony and balance of this wine was formed, on the one hand, by the Malmsy variety, which gave it a rich aroma, and on the other hand, by the Bual variety, which provides it with complexity and structure.

Currently, Blendis is part of the combined Madeira Wine Company, being the strongest brand in its portfolio and a shining example of success in the winemaking and wine trade.
