Interesting Facts

Amarone is a complex and expensive wine for special occasions. Therefore, the region came up with a lighter version - Valpolicella Ripasso, which winemakers lovingly call Baby Amarone. In the production of this wine, Amarone pomace is added to Valpolicella. Fermentation is resumed (in Italian ripassare means “to carry out again”), as a result of which the strength of the wine increases, it is saturated with flavor and aromatic components. After fermentation is complete, the wine is aged for 18 months in barrels, some of which are French barriques (30%), some are large Slavonian oak barrels (70%).
